We humans are dreaming beings... We do not just dream at night. Everything that happens to us, all we do not intend, has a dream-like character: symptoms, relationships-difficulties, addictions, etc. Seen in this way, diseases are dreams of the body.

Diseases are often not only painful, they mess up everyday life and shake the foundations of self-understanding. Above all, illness is an experience and not just a diagnosis. If we approach this experience carefully, pain and hopelessness can give us access to a hidden sense-giving dimension.

Chronically ill people see themselves as victims of fate, which to them is unjust. They think they have done something wrong... And they lose a lot of energy asking themselves what they could have done differently or what they could change now...Chronic illnesses can be a journey to our own life myth: It touches a level which is less personal and more archetypical.
